Kansas City advances airport concessions bid after contentious debate

A Kansas City committee has endorsed Vantage Airport Group to be the concessions operator at the new Kansas City International Airport terminal. But Wednesday’s vote didn’t happen without some heated City Hall debate. Mask-defying Blue Springs cafe loses case, must close

Rae’s Cafe in Blue Springs will be forced to close, at least for now, after a judge’s ruling Thursday. A Jackson County judge sided with the county and granted a temporary restraining order after the restaurant violated Jackson County’s mask mandate. The same judge denied a countersuit filed by the cafe’s owner claiming the mandate was unlawful. Rae’s Cafe has continued to operate without a permit and while violating the county’s closure order as the business challenged it in court.…

Mission restaurant closes after 50 years

A Johnson County restaurant known for its Mexican cuisine announced that it will close later this year. Don Chilito’s Mexican Restaurant’s final day in business will be Dec. 11. The popular restaurant opened on Johnson Drive in 1971. Since then it has served millions of people. Barry Cowden is the second-generation owner of Don Chilito’s. Jackson County closes Blue Springs café over mask dispute

Deputies move in and close a Blue Springs restaurant Thursday afternoon, accused of violating Jackson County’s mask mandate. It’s the latest twist in a fight over the health order. According to the new letter that now hangs on the door at Rae’s Café in Blue Springs, the Jackson County Health Department ordered the business to close. Blue Springs restaurant ordered to close for skirting mask mandate becomes private club

On Friday, Rae's Cafe was deemed an imminent health hazard and ordered to close immediately by the Jackson County Health Department. At the time, the owner of the Blue Springs restaurant told FOX4 that she was planning to stay open. And on Saturday afternoon, it was clear how she was going to make that happen.
