“The Bob’s Way” is coming Kansas City’s way.
Bob’s Discount Furniture will open its first stores in the metro area in the coming weeks. The Connecticut-based chain’s new stores in Independence and Merriam are among seven it plans to open nationwide around Labor Day, Furniture Today reports. The push will give Bob’s 150 stores in 24 states.

At least a part of the Kansas City streetcar’s extension to the Plaza area will begin rolling soon — the taxes to support the work.
Beginning July 1, sales taxes will go into effect in a transportation development district formed to support an extension of the streetcar from Union Station south to around 51st and Main streets. Property taxes in the district also will become effective, according to district officials.

An executive who has held two separate C-level jobs at Kansas City Southern will leave the company next month.
Brian Hancock will retire from the railroad carrier effective July 2, according to a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission. Hancock serves as executive vice president and chief innovation officer for KC Southern. He took that position in 2018 after joining the company in 2015 as chief marketing officer.
