Evergy announces $250M purchase of Oklahoma wind farm

Evergy Inc. said it will add to its renewable energy holdings with the purchase of an Oklahoma wind farm for about $250 million. The Kansas City-based utility (NYSE: EVRG) said it will buy the 199-megawatt Persimmon Creek Wind Farm from a partnership of Scout Clean Energy and Elawan Energy. Kansas City Barbeque Society names well-known pitmaster as its CEO

Rod Gray has won innumerable titles during his years on the competition barbecue circuit, along with earning the descriptor of entrepreneur. Now, he has a new title: CEO of the Kansas City Barbeque Society. KCBS said Wednesday that Gray will become just the fourth CEO in the organization’s 36-year history. Crown Media dons the Hallmark name for itself

Crown Media Family Networks said it is taking the new name Hallmark Media. The California-based unit of Hallmark Cards Inc. made the announcement at a meeting of the Television Critics Association. In a Wednesday release, unit CEO Wonya Lucas said it only made sense to lead with the “iconic” Hallmark name. Propio Language Services says new acquisition makes it among the world’s largest

Propio Language Services, already one of the Kansas City-area’s fastest-growing companies, added another acquisition. The Overland Park-based company claims the new deal makes it one of the world’s largest remote interpretation companies. Propio purchased Portland-based Telelanguage, according to a Thursday release.
