The state of Kansas came away from the first month of legal sports betting a winner, but didn’t exactly score an instant jackpot.
The state’s casinos reported combined revenue of $1.3 million from sports gaming in September, according to the governor’s office. The state’s take was $130,000. Blue Springs named a new economic development director who has worked to build up the downtowns of Kansas City, Kansas, and Lee’s Summit.
Jason Norbury will lead efforts to attract and retain businesses in Blue Springs, the city said in a Thursday release. The Eastern Jackson County community had a population of roughly 58,600 in 2020. Top employers include the Blue Springs School District, St. Mary’s Hospital, Hy-Vee and Fike Corp.

Passport Brand Design will join VMLY&R’s global network after it was acquired by VMLY&R parent WPP, according to a Thursday release. Terms of the purchase were not disclosed.
