The nonprofit Generating Income For Tomorrow grant program remains one of Kansas City's most important funders of Black-owned businesses.
During the program's second fiscal year, G.I.F.T. provided $460,000 to 21 Black-owned businesses, resulting in 35 new jobs. That followed G.I.F.T. awarding 14 grants totaling $227,000 and creating 22 jobs in its first fiscal year, which spanned May 2020 to April 2021.
