KC’s NNSA campus would more than double in size, add 1,000 new employees

New programs and rapid employee growth have left the National Nuclear Security Administratinon's south Kansas City campus short on space. City planners advanced a proposal that would add a 245-acre expansion to the already 192-acre campus. The move also could result in hiring 1,000 new employees in the next decade.

Hunt Midwest will build sixth, largest self-storage project in KC metro

Hunt Midwest has started construction on its sixth StorTropolis location to date in a new corner of the Kansas City metro. Once open, the facility will bring the total number of climate-controlled self-storage units under its purview to more than 4,000.

In south KC, $140M cold storage project will break ground in 2024 — minus big food processing center

A $199.6 million project by West Liberty Foods and Vertical Cold Storage in January was celebrated as the Kansas City metro's first big business attraction deal of 2023. Although the Iowa protein processor has dropped out of the project, the cold storage company is bullish on its ability to serve other food companies as revised plans move forward.
