New Kansas law will let Walmart, Gatik put autonomous vehicles on the road
Retail giant Walmart and autonomous vehicle company Gatik are making plans to put medium-duty driverless delivery vehicles on the road in Kansas after Gov. Laura Kelly’s signing of a bill last week.
The law allows fully autonomous trucks — meaning without a human safety driver in the cab — and makes Kansas the 25th state to pass such legislation, Gatik said in a release announcing the expansion of its operations into Kansas.

A second Kansas City-area man has landed in prison for his role in a $346 million scheme in which a construction company received federal contracts after falsely claiming it was owned by a disabled veteran.

Kansas legalizes sports betting, with an eye on luring NFL’s Chiefs to jump state line
Gov. Laura Kelly signed a bill that will legalize betting on sports at state-affiliated casinos in Kansas, at certain stadiums, in restaurants and at some nonprofits. The state will levy a 10% tax on wages, and much of that revenue will be directed to a fund to provide incentives for pro sports teams looking to move.
