Matheson Flight Extenders plans to close its Kansas City facility, as well as others, affecting a variety of jobs. The company's Sacramento-based parent and its two wholly owned subsidiaries filed for bankruptcy last year.

The Kansas City Current has revealed two new local partnerships, including the team's official jeweler and another restaurant partner. They join a rapidly growing roster of local companies involved with the professional women's soccer team.

"This gives us a chance to continue our vision," co-founder Daniel Smith said of the new grant.

The boots brand already is clinching wins, including unseating a longtime sponsor of a respected and fast-growing national rodeo association. Hyer Boots traces its roots to 1875 and lost its way (and its trademark) in the 1970s, but a descendant of the founder has brought the company back to life and is seeing solid early returns.
