A new take on an old building material is gaining momentum in U.S. construction, in large part driven by rising demand for sustainable options. Mass timber, virtually unheard of a decade ago, now has been used in the construction or design of more than 2,100 multifamily, commercial or institutional mass timber projects nationwide, according to nonprofit WoodWorks.
