Downtown Council seeks grant to study four-block park over I-670 while infrastructure spending is in vogue
The Downtown Council of Kansas City wants to push ahead with planning for a deck over a part of Interstate 670 that cuts through Downtown between the Central Business District and the Crossroads Arts District.
The plan, which call for covering four blocks of the South Loop from Wyandotte Street to Grand Boulevard, has been percolating for more than a decade. Now, the Downtown Council is applying for $2.4 million in federal grant money to continue planning for the "South Loop Link."
